That was amazing: I just experienced Cafe Soho for the first time. Rory walked in and, in a scene reminiscent of Norm entering Cheers, was greeted with a call of his name. Jubilation. They were so happy to see their favourite customer, and eagerly got to work preparing ‘his usual’. The bloke behind the counter called out the fresh ingredients as he added them to the salad - double beef, double chicken, red peppers, black olives…
Meanwhile, Mark the owner asked Rory how his weekend was, what he got up to, and how he was generally feeling on this fine April afternoon. I just stood silent. Nobody noticed me. I didn’t even get asked if I wanted anything.
